Chiefs Stranded on Airport Runway Less Than 24 Hours Before Week 18 Game vs Broncos Read more at:

Winter is generally the worst time to attempt to travel by plane, as snowy conditions can lead to flights being delayed and canceled. The elements have definitely shown up in Kansas City, as the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly stuck at the airport. More news:Ravens’ Zay Flowers Taken to Locker Room Following Apparent Knee Injury

The Kanas City International Airport revealed that flight operations were shut down due to “rapid ice accumulation.” This change in weather has reportedly led to the Chiefs team being stranded. Should the Chiefs not be able to make their game against the Denver Broncos, this would likely lead to their final game of the season being delayed. Further updates have been provided about the airport, with many pointing to the Chiefs not being able to make the game.

Harold R. Kuntz stated that the de-icing machine at the airport is also broken, which is delaying flights even more. Ian Rapoport offered an additional update, stating that the Chiefs have been stuck on the runway for four hours.

The Chiefs have already announced that Patrick Mahomes and most of the starters on the team will be rested in the final game of the season. This is good news for the Broncos, who simply need a win to advance to the playoffs. Right behind the Broncos are the Miami Dolphins. If the Broncos happen to lose to the Chiefs and the Dolphins beat the New York Jets on Sunday, then they would be in.

The Cincinnati Bengals could also get in should the Broncos and Dolphins lose, and the Bengals take down the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers might also sit their starters if the Baltimore Ravens beat the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. There are a lot of moving parts with the AFC and the final playoff spot. This makes the Chiefs being stuck on a runway even worse, as the Broncos have been preparing to secure their playoff spot all week.

The same can be said for the Chiefs. Being stuck on a runway for hours doesn’t necessarily mean they cannot still fly out, but if it is late into the night — the NFL might delay the game entirely. This is just speculation at this point, but there will be more details to come out. For more updates on the ongoing issue with the Chiefs and all NFL news, head to Newsweek Sports.
