Kansas City Chiefs Should Get Super Bowl Hero Back For NFL Playoffs Run – Gridiron Heroics

The Kansas City Chiefs are 15-1 and in prime position to do what no team has ever done in NFL history: win three Super Bowls in a row. The Green Bay Packers previously won three NFL Championships on two separate occasions, with the second three-peat including Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has already announced that two-time NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes will not play in Week 18, nor will many of Kansas City’s other starters. This will give Chiefs star players two full weeks off as they have the first round bye during the Wild Card Round.

During this time off, one particular Super Bowl hero is hoping he can get healthy enough to help the Chiefs make NFL history.

On Wednesday afternoon, it was reported that Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman had been designated to return from injured reserve. This means that he can now participate in practice, but Kansas City has 21 days to add him to the active roster.

This timeline would put him on track to return to Kansas City’s roster in time for the Divisional Round or the AFC Championship, should the Chiefs make it that far.

Hardman has missed Kansas City’s last four games with a lingering knee injury. The good news is that a player put on injured reserve must miss a minimum of four games. Since he was designated to return after exactly four games, it could indicate that his injury is healing the way the Chiefs hoped it would.

Hardman has not been a major offensive weapon on offense this season, having caught only 12 passes for 90 yards in 12 games played.

However, he will forever be remembered for catching the game winning touchdown in overtime of the Super Bowl last year that set Kansas City up for this chance at NFL history.
