49ers CB Charvarius Ward has been ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Lions

The San Francisco 49ers announced that cornerback Charvarius Ward was officially ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions. Ward was downgraded to out, but it wasn’t due to an injury. Instead, it’s for a personal matter.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said it was good news on Saturday when asked if everything was OK with Ward: “Yeah. Stuff I can’t totally share. I haven’t talked to him about it, so we’ll keep it personal. But nothing bad happened.”

Per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Lee Chan, Ward recently found out that he and his family were expecting a baby boy, and Ward had not been with the team over the weekend. That’s amazing news for Ward and his family, considering what they’ve been through.

Ward popped up on the injury report on Saturday for the first time. Shanahan also said that left guard Aaron Banks will go on the Injured Reserve after missing practice all week with an ankle injury. Banks, defensive end Robert Beal (ankle), linebacker Dre Greenlaw (calf), and offensive lineman Spencer Burford (calf) were all ruled out for Monday night’s contest.

Right tackle Colton McKivitz, who missed Friday and Saturday’s practice with a knee injury, is questionable. As is linebacker Tatum Bethune (knee) and safety Ji’Ayir Brown (ankle).

Fullback Kyle Juzczyk returned to practice on Saturday after missing Friday with an illness.

Defensive end Leonard Floyd (shoulder) and running back Isaac Guerendo (foot/hamstring) were full participants on Saturday after being limited the previous two days of practice. Shanahan said, “Yeah, it was good to have him back. We had a full-speed practice yesterday, and he looked good. So, no holdbacks, he’s good to go,” regarding Guerendo.
