Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick, has posted a concerning update on the health of her father, Randy.

She shared a picture of the two together on her Instagram story with the caption: ‘Please pray for my father.’

It comes three months after she shared a picture of her daughter Mia sat by a hospital bed while Patrick’s grandfather was laying facing the television – appearing to watch Mahomes and the Chiefs against Los Angeles Chargers.

‘Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy,’ she wrote on September 13. ‘He is in the hospital and is not well.’

She has never said precisely what his health issues are. But it comes at a time where Patrick and wife Brittany are preparing to welcome the birth of their third child – a second daughter.

Speaking this week, around the Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick said Brittany is due to give birth imminently.

Earlier this year Randi shared a picture of her watching the Chiefs with her ill father

‘Any day now,’ he said. ‘Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season so I’ve got to try to not put so much stress on her through these football games.

‘Hopefully God works the right way and we can have that baby on the bye week somewhere, and then everything will work out perfectly.’

The Chiefs beat the Steelers 29-10 on Christmas, securing their place as the AFC’s No. 1 seed and meaning they skip the wildcard round that Mahomes was referring to as a bye week.

Mahomes is likely to have plenty of time off between now and his next Chiefs game.

Kansas City are unlikely to risk him on January 5 against Denver Broncos with nothing else to gain from the final regular season game.

And the playoffs bye means Mahomes and his Chiefs team will be back in action on January 18 or 19.
