Sheawna Weathersby, partner of Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, recently shared the fun and exciting celebratory tradition the team’s families and friends follow whenever the Chiefs score during games. With a remarkable 14-1 record for the regular season, the Chiefs have been scoring frequently this 2024 season. That being said, Weathersby explained how the tradition unfolds in the suite.
“Chris insists on his favorite Joe’s BBQ at every home game,” she revealed to PEOPLE. Alongside the barbecue, Weathersby mentioned that they make sure to have everyone’s favorite drink-Poppi-ready to go. However, the real fun begins when the Chiefs score.
“We have a suite tradition of taking shots of either Casamigos or Clase Azul after each score and sack,” Weathersby said. “There’s always plenty of both since we’re always scoring!” The celebratory tradition is enjoyed by everyone in the suite, and the Chiefs’ successful track record means there’s a lot to celebrate.
This custom isn’t just limited to Weathersby. Earlier this season, Chariah Gordon, partner of Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman, also spoke to PEOPLE about this celebratory ritual. “We celebrate the tackles, the touchdowns, the yards,” Gordon said. “There’s always something to celebrate… take a shot in the suite.” Gordon added that the suite is filled with “really good, genuine vibes,” as the WAGs cheer on their partners and enjoy each game.
As the Chiefs prepare for their Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Weathersby will be rooting for Jones from Kansas City, where she’ll be hosting their families and cheering at their viewing party. The holiday matchup is sure to bring more excitement, with the Chiefs aiming to continue their strong season heading into the playoffs.
