Walker Buehler is headed to the Red Sox.AP

Walker Buehler and the Red sox are in agreement on a one-year, $21.05 million contract, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

In his free agency, Buehler presented as a pitcher who had a lot of upside but would not necessarily command a long term deal. With the Dodgers this year, he pitched to a 5.38 ERA before the playoffs and then putting up 10 scoreless innings across his final three outings for Los Angeles.

Earlier this month, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported that Mets inquired on Buehler.

The 30-year-old was one of the best young starters during his rookie season in 2018, pitching to a 2.82 ERA. He’s spent his entire career with the Dodgers, picking up two All-Star selections in 2019 and 2021. He missed the 2023 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Buehler returned to the mound in May but additional injuries limited him to 16 starts in 2024. But his strong postseason performance made him a marketable starter in this offseason’s free agent market.
