Though it’s not logically possible, Taylor Swift responds to one of her hits songs being about San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy.
Pop icon Taylor Swift is still dating Travis Kelce. But is she also now taking digs at Brock Purdy?
While Kansas City rolls toward another playoff run and the San Francisco 49ers are suffering another post-Chiefs nosedive, Swift hinted that one of her hit songs might have been written about the star quarterback.
While visiting patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City recently, a young fan asked if her song “Paper Rings” was about the 49ers quarterback. Swift, interestingly, didn’t flatly deny it.
“I don’t mind Brock Purdy,” Swift said. “He put me through a lot last February. I was very stressed, but it all ended up fine.”
Last February in Super Bowl LVIII, Purdy and the Niners pushed the Chiefs into overtime before losing. Kansas City scored with three seconds left in regulation and overtime to capture its second consecutive championship.
Swift, one of the most popular people on the planet these days, has made headline for her romance with Kelce and her attendance at Chiefs games. She was the Super Bowl, in which Purdy went 23 of 38 for 255 yards and a touchdown in almost upsetting her beloved Chiefs.
From the department of “don’t let the facts get in the way of a cool story,” Swift’s “Paper Rings” was on her “Lover” album which was released in 2019. At that time Purdy was still at Iowa State and didn’t become the 49ers’ starting quarterback until 2022.
The 6-8 Niners are clinging by a thread to playoff hopes and visit the 6-8 Miami Dolphins Sunday at 1:25 p.m.
