Patriots release offensive lineman Liam Fornadel from practice squad - Pats Pulpit

The organization announced the release of guard Liam Fornadel on Tuesday afternoon, opening a spot on the scout team with three weeks of football remaining.

Fornadel, 26, arrived in Foxborough as a street free agent in June. After going undrafted out of James Madison, where his Dukes tenure spanned 41 starts, the interior lineman had spent 2022 with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He then moved on to the XFL-turned-UFL, starting all 20 games with the DC Defenders over the past pair of spring campaigns.

The Patriots waived Fornadel at the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline in August after he saw preseason snaps between left guard, center and right guard. From there, the unclaimed 6-foot-4, 310-pounder signed to the practice squad at its formation along with running backs Kevin Harris and Terrell Jennings, wide receiver Matt Landers, tight end Mitchell Wilcox, outside linebacker Jotham Russell and safety A.J. Thomas.

Head coach Jerod Mayo’s 3-11 side of the AFC East visits the 11-3 Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The divisional kickoff at Highmark Stadium has been flexed to 4:25 p.m. ET.
