Dallas, TX . May 2026
The official 2026 schedule release sent shockwaves through the Dallas Cowboys organization, with an overload of elite competition, endless primetime spotlight, and one of the toughest road stretches in recent memory.

Owner Jerry Jones was visibly irritated after reviewing the Cowboys’ punishing slate of games.
“This is beyond brutal — it’s borderline disrespectful,” Jones said Friday. “We’ve got America’s Team playing in more primetime games than anyone else, traveling across the country, and facing murderers’ row of opponents week after week. Somebody in New York clearly has a sense of humor.”
Dallas opens the season on the road against the defending NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles in a massive Sunday Night Football opener, then immediately dives into a gauntlet.
The Cowboys will face elite squads like the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers in nationally televised matchups.
The schedule turns vicious in December and January, with a murderous closing stretch against division rivals and top contenders that could decide playoff seeding.

According to sources, Jones privately complained that the league gave “America’s Team” one of the hardest schedules in the entire NFL despite the massive expectations and the enormous revenue the Cowboys generate for the league every year.

League insiders believe this closing stretch — especially the December/January slate — will be the ultimate test of whether this Cowboys team is finally ready to end the long Super Bowl drought.
The Cowboys enter 2026 with sky-high expectations, led by quarterback Dak Prescott, who remains one of the most marketable stars in the league.
Jerry Jones added with his classic fire:
“Look, I’m not crying about it — but let’s call it what it is. They want the biggest ratings, so they load up on us. Fine. But if they think this schedule is going to break us, they don’t know Jerry Jones and they damn sure don’t know the Dallas Cowboys. We don’t duck anybody. We play in the biggest games, under the brightest lights, and we’re coming for what’s ours.”
“We’ve been waiting a long time for another parade in Dallas. This schedule? It just made us hungrier.”
