Amid the uncertainty about what Aaron Rodgers will do in the future, as reports now indicate he still hasn’t given the Pittsburgh Steelers a response, some are looking at what the organization might do next. There’s reason to believe that could impact former Seattle Seahawks legend Russell Wilson, who remains on the free-agent market.

Wilson, similar to Rodgers in the regard that both of them used to be very, very good players and aren’t what they once were, is below Rodgers in terms of all-time status, as the former Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and Steelers quarterback is one of the greatest ever, but that doesn’t mean that Wilson still isn’t a respectable player and somebody who could fit in for what the Steelers are looking to do.

He was already on the roster, which didn’t exactly work out, but some believe that it could be better this time around.

“If the question is where Wilson could reasonably sign right now, Pittsburgh is the cleanest answer.

“Not because the Steelers are definitely choosing Wilson, but because Rodgers’ unresolved status keeps that door cracked open. Rooney’s public timeline matters here: if the Steelers truly want clarity before the draft, then every other veteran option sits behind that decision,” Erik Anderson of Heavy wrote.

It’s tough to say in a sense that Wilson would be an ideal candidate for a team like the Steelers right now. He’s still a proven veteran and well respected, but if Pittsburgh has other options, which it does with Will Howard, it’s probably better to go in that direction.
