On Tuesday night, the New York Mets lost to the Minnesota Twins by a score of 5-3.
The Mets had a 3-0 lead heading into the sixth inning.
When the game was tied up at 3-3 in the ninth inning, Devin Williams allowed two runs.
Mike Puma of The New York Post wrote: “Devin Williams had a brutal night, but don’t lose sight of the fact the Mets had only four hits and got all of their runs with one swing. That is no way to live.”

In eight games this season, Williams has gone 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA.
After spending the 2025 season with the New York Yankees, he signed a deal with the Mets in free agency.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote (on December 1, 2025): “Reliever Devin Williams and the New York Mets are in agreement on a three-year contract that guarantees more than $50 million, sources tell ESPN.”

So far, it appears as if the Yankees made a wise decision to not give Williams a big deal.
He is coming off a year where he went 4-6 with a 4.79 ERA in 67 games.
John Harper of SNY wrote: “Devin Williams looks exactly like he did early last season in the Bronx. Like the stage is too big for him. Upon signing him, Stearns tried to say that if you looked at the numbers, Williams was unlucky last year. If you watched, you knew it was more than that.”
