On Wednesday night, the Chicago Cubs will continue their series with the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

The Cubs are coming off a 10-4 win on Tuesday.

Alex Bregman led the team with three hits.

Currently, the series is tied up at 1-1.

The Cubs have dealt with a lot of injuries this season.

According to MLB Rumors, the team has now signed Ty Blach to a minor league deal.

The 35-year-old last played in an MLB game during the 2024 season.

Tommy Birch of Des Moines Register wrote (on Tuesday): “The Cubs have signed LHP Ty Blach and assigned him to the @IowaCubs. No official word but I’m guessing this is a minor league deal.”

Blach’s MLB Career

Blach was picked in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

He spent the first three and a half seasons of his career with the San Francisco Giants.

During the 2018 season, Blach went 6-7 with a 4.25 ERA in 47 games (13 starts).

Following the Giants, Blach spent part of one season with the Baltimore Orioles.

He then missed the 2020 season.

More recently, Blach played for the Colorado Rockies from 2022-24.

Over 156 career games, he has gone 23-33 with a 5.42 ERA.

While Blach is far from his prime, he adds good depth to their organization.

Cubs Right Now

The Cubs are currently the last-place team in the National League Central with an 8-9 record in 17 games.

They are 4-4 in the eight games they have played on the road away from Wrigley Field.

Following their series with the Phillies, the Cubs will return home to host the New York Mets on Friday.

The Cubs are coming off an excellent year where they were the second-place team in the division with a 92-70 record.

They lost to the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2025 NLDS.

The franchise last won a World Series Championship in 2016 when they beat the Cleveland Guardians.
