The Green Bay Packers traded WR Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday
The Green Bay Packers have been fielding calls on several of their wide receivers this offseason.
After losing Romeo Doubs to the New England Patriots in free agency, the Packers received trade interest in Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks.
Among the trio, though, analysts believed Wicks was the player most likely to be moved. In fact, Green Bay even discussed trading Wicks with four other teams in the last two weeks.
“Teams have been calling the #Packers about WR Dontayvion Wicks again,” Easton Butler of Packers Report posted on X. “Some teams include the Bills, Raiders, Dolphins and Jets. Several others are calling, but these 4 have been the most prominent.”
Packers Pull Trigger on Dontayvion Wicks Trade
After weeks of discussing possible deals, the Packers finally pulled the trigger on a wide receiver trade, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“ESPN sources: the Green Bay Packers are trading wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick,” Schefter reported. “Wicks will sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles, per his agent @DavidMulugheta.”

Wicks had spent the last few seasons buried on the depth chart behind Reed, Watson, and Doubs. The 24-year-old wideout has shown upside during that stretch, totaling 108 catches on 180 targets for 1,328 yards, and 11 touchdowns in three seasons.
Though he’s never had more than 39 receptions or 581 yards in a season, that could change with a bigger workload in Philadelphia, especially if the Eagles trade A.J. Brown.
It’s been speculated the Eagles will trade Brown at some point this offseason. The New England Patriots are the frontrunner to land the Pro Bowler, but the Los Angeles Rams had also called the Eagles about a possible deal.
Where Does Packers WR Room Stand Now?
Fortunately for the Packers, they’re in a place where they can deal a wide receiver and still be in a good spot.
In losing Doubs (55 receptions, 724 yards, 6 touchdowns) and Wicks (30 receptions, 332 yards, 2 TDs), the Packers are now without their first- and third-leading WRs from last season.
The silver lining is they will have a strong 1-2 punch in Reed and Watson, who are both coming off pretty significant injuries.
Reed finished last season with 19 catches, 207 yards, and 1 TD, but he was limited to just 7 games last year after suffering a shoulder clavicle fracture early in the year. Watson finished with 35 catches, 611 yards, and 6 TDs, but he too was also limited to just 10 games last year after recovering from an ACL tear the previous season.
When healthy, both receivers are weapons for QB Jordan Love. Reed was Green Bay’s top pass-catcher in his first two seasons, logging a combined 119 catches, 1,650 yards, and 14 TDs.
Conversely, Watson has logged 600 yards or more in three of his four seasons, and he’s Green Bay’s top downfield threat averaging 17 yards per catch.
With Wicks out of the picture now, it also paves the way for Matthew Golden, the 23rd overall pick in last year’s draft, to take on a bigger role. Golden tallied 29 receptions and 361 yards as a rookie.
