Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Could the Bills be looking to bolster their receiving corps this offseason, even after acquiring Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore at the onset of free agency? They traded a second-round pick in 2026 to bring Moore to Buffalo. If the Bills are serious about making a Super Bowl run and want to give Josh Allen more playmakers at his disposal, they could trade this year’s first-round pick for another standout wide receiver.
There are a handful of players who could still be traded before the NFL draft begins on April 23. Fox Sports NFL reporter Ralph Vacchiano has a specific player in mind for the Bills to consider adding to their roster.
Bills Trade Pitch Sends Brian Thomas Jr. to Buffalo
Vacchiano published an article on Wednesday where he proposed a trade for every team to consider before the draft. In his scenario, the Bills sent a 2026 first-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
“Yes, the Bills already got WR D.J. Moore from Chicago for a second-round pick. But they need to do better for QB Josh Allen, so why not go all-in on their biggest need and turn it into a strength,” Vacchiano wrote? “The Jags say they won’t trade Thomas, even after a terrible season, but they don’t have a first-round pick, so if the Bills dangle their first-rounder, maybe Jacksonville will change its mind. With Allen, two top receivers and RB James Cook, the Bills’ offense might be impossible to stop. And if they can finally end their Super Bowl drought, it would be well worth the price.”
Jacksonville selected Thomas in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and he had an impressive first season, recording 1,282 receiving yards and scoring 10 touchdowns over the course of 17 games. However, his game fell off last season under first-year head coach Liam Coen, as he recorded only 707 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 14 games.
Jaguars Have Showed Zero Signs of Trading Thomas
Suppose the Jaguars are considering trading Thomas; doing so before the NFL draft might be their best option to secure a deal. Yet, their general manager James Gladstone wasn’t in favor of trading Thomas a month ago.
“I know the word ‘reputable’ came up earlier [in a previous question]. I don’t think there’s been any reputable statement [that the Jaguars were shopping Thomas],” Gladstone said on March 12, via ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
“We don’t have any real action on any of those fronts. And you think back to where we landed at the end of the season, where our passing attack was, we have no interest in disrupting the momentum. We look forward to continuing to build off of where we left things and know that Brian Thomas is a big piece to that puzzle and we don’t want that disrupted at any time.”
The Bills would be a perfect spot for Thomas to land, and if Buffalo can secure both Thomas and Moore in the same offseason, it could make the Bills the team to beat in the AFC this year.
