They are coming off a 5-3 win on Tuesday.
New York Yankees Announce Anthony Volpe Update

Before Wednesday’s game, Aaron Boone provided an update on Antony Volpe.
Erik Boland of Newsday Sports wrote: “Boone said Volpe will likely come back with the Yankees after their weekend series in Tampa and “potentially” could be sent out on a rehab assignment at some point next week”
Volpe is coming off a season where he batted .212 with 19 home runs, 72 RBI’s, 65 runs and 18 stolen bases.

Volpe was the 30th pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.
He has been with the Yankees for all three seasons of his career.
Over 472 games, the 24-year-old is batting .222 with 52 home runs, 192 RBI’s, 217 runs and 70 stolen bases.
During his rookie season (2023), Volpe won a Gold Glove Award.
Joe Randazzo of Yankees OnSI wrote: “Jose Caballero has struggled. The Yankees may have always gone back to Anthony Volpe when he was healthy, but Cabby, unfortunately, hasn’t made this a debate for the org. Volpe will likely be the shortstop again soon — get ready.”

Yankees Ahead Of Wednesday’s Game
The Yankees are off to a strong start to the new season with an 8-2 record in ten games, which has them at the top of the American League East.
They are 3-1 in the four games they have played at home.

Following two more games against the Athletics, the Yankees will head on the road to play the Tampa Bay Rays with the series starting on Friday (in Florida).
Last season, they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.
