The Kansas Chiefs traded Skyy Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round draft choice in 2025.
The San Francisco 49ers were one of the most intriguing NFL teams heading into this offseason as it pertained to the wide receiver position. Not only were they expected to lose multiple wide receivers, but they also had to find a way to replace them. Not only are Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and Kendrick Bourne (Cardinals) all either on new teams or expected to be on new teams, but the team also lost veteran pass-catcher Skyy Moore (Packers).
Of course, GM John Lynch found a way to sign future Hall of Fame wide receiver Mike Evans and deep threat Christian Kirk. Still, the 49ers are feeling the loss of Moore. According to team insider Vic Tafur, the team was very sad to see the former Super Bowl champion leave its building.
Skyy Moore Was a Significant Contributor for the San Francisco 49ers

GettySkyy Moore won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs before joining the 49ers last season.
Here is what Tafur learned from 49ers brass regarding Moore at the league meetings in Phoenix this week:
“The 49ers’ brass was sorry to see WR Skyy Moore leave in free agency for the Packers. He was their best kick returner in some time, and Shanahan was looking forward to getting him more involved in the passing game after Moore was a late arrival via trade last season.”

While Moore might not be an All-Pro wide receiver, he was a versatile contributor for San Francisco. Moore averaged 27.5 yards per kick return and 11.6 yards per punt return. It will be tough for the Niners to replace his returning abilities, which the Green Bay Packers could very well benefit from this upcoming season. Even though he only caught five passes for 87 yards, his value in multiple facets was very evident.
Kyle Shanahan Should Have the Trust of 49ers Fans

GettyKyle Shanahan is entering his 10th season as head coach of the 49ers.
Despite losing what could very well be four wide receivers during the free agent window, the 49ers still appear to be a real Super Bowl contender. Furthermore, head coach Kyle Shanahan should still be feeling the support of the Niners’ fan base. Despite not winning a Super Bowl yet, he has brought the franchise back into the title conversation. After former head coach Jim Harbaugh left for Michigan in 2015, this organization fell off.
Since Shanahan was hired in 2017, the team has made five playoff appearances, won three division titles, and earned its way to multiple Super Bowls. His consistency and play-calling abilities have made him one of the best head coaches in all of football. That is why the losses in the wide receiver room should not bring the energy of the fan base down.
After yet another 12-win season and a strong free agency run, look for San Francisco to have an impressive draft performance. They have six picks inside the first four rounds, which means Shanahan and Lynch will have an immediate opportunity to load up on top-level talent.
