The never-ending Maxx Crosby trade is getting another update, and this one is good news for the Dallas Cowboys.
No matter what is said publicly about the Dallas Cowboys and their attempt to get Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders on the squad, there’s no denying that there was, and still is, interest between these two camps. Now, a Crosby update from an interested team is boosting the Cowboys’ chances of eventually getting him.
According to a report from ESPN’s Ryan McFadden out on March 24, the Dallas Cowboys proposed three different deals to the Las Vegas Raiders that started with pick No. 20 in the 2026 draft and Osa Odighizuwa.
“Initial offers centered on Dallas’ second first-round pick at No. 20, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa,” McFadden noted in the report. “The Cowboys then offered their top first-rounder at No. 12 and a third-round pick.”
He added, “Ultimately, the Cowboys moved to No. 12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round selection.”
So, the interest was there between Jerry Jones and the Cowboys and Maxx Crosby. Now, one team has seemingly dropped out of the Crosby race.
Dallas Cowboys Rival Was Never Interested in Maxx Crosby Trade
The Detroit Lions are off the table. In an interview published on Monday, March 30, Detroit Lions president Ron Wood talked about what management really thought of the Crosby idea. Speaking with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, said that the Lions were never seriously looking at trading for Crosby.
In the interview, he says that the Lions were “never were in the game” for a big-named pass rusher during the offseason, including Crosby or Trey Hendrickson. He stated, “When we’re looking at our cash and cap budget, we’re looking at it as is and as it will be with those guys knowing that we want to keep many of them, all of them if we can.”
Wood also said, “So if we had gone out and done the biggest – let’s say we did the Maxx Crosby trade or the Trey Hendrickson signing, that probably would have meant, which one of these guys are we going to let go?
Dallas Cowboys Doctor Was Involved in Maxx Crosby Review, Report States
By the end of the 2025-26 NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.
On March 11, NFL Network reporter Jane Slater stated on X that Dr. Daniel Cooper was one of the medical personnel involved in reviewing Crosby’s medicals from his physical with the Baltimore Ravens. Cooper is the head physician for the Dallas Cowboys. So, he had a hand in expressing concerns abut the pass rusher’s health, which helped lead to the Ravens backing out of the deal.
“Cooper is the Cowboys team doctor and is a premiere knee specialist,” she stated in the post. “As stated by Shan below, Schefter in the clip says ‘Cooper was one of the doctors who reviewed the images and the Ravens then felt compelled to back out of this trade.’ He has taken on quite a number of tricky knee cases. Possibly explains the Cowboys being out early. Genuinely thought they would re-approach.”
