The Buffalo Bills face significant pressure this season to win the Super Bowl, especially after their recent struggles to reach the big game. With Josh Allen regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, expectations are high for the team to make a championship run.
Buffalo made several significant roster moves this offseason that could set it on the path to a Super Bowl run, including acquiring Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore and signing veteran pass rusher Bradley Chubb.
Bills Placed No. 5 on Super Bowl List
The Bills will need to make a significant addition during the first round of the NFL draft. However, Saad Yousuf from The Athletic believes that Buffalo is among the top five Super Bowl contenders heading into the draft.
Yousuf has put together his five Super Bowl contenders heading into the draft, placing the Bills at No. 5. The top four spots are taken by the No. 1 San Francisco 49ers, No. 2 Los Angeles Rams, No. 3 Denver Broncos and No. 4 Kansas City Chiefs.
“Adding Moore from the Chicago Bears was a fine start to addressing the need at wide receiver, but it can’t be where the front office gets comfortable,” Yousuf wrote on Friday. “Whether it’s adding another player like Jennings or trading for a veteran or making a move in the draft, the Bills need to make some more upgrades. But Josh Allen in his prime will always give the team a chance to compete for a championship.”
The Bills had a solid opportunity to make it to the Super Bowl last season since they didn’t have to face the Chiefs, a team they’ve lost to four times in the playoffs since 2020.
Kansas City did not make the playoffs last season due to a disappointing campaign, further complicated by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes tearing his ACL. Meanwhile, Buffalo fell to the Broncos in the AFC divisional round.
Denver Could be Hard to Beat
The Broncos have significantly improved this offseason by acquiring Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in a trade, and they could be the team to beat in the AFC.
“The Broncos boasted an elite defense in 2025, which helped carry them to the AFC Championship Game,” Yousuf added. “Offensively, Bo Nix had his moments, but consistency was an issue week-to-week and even within a game. Adding wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is the kind of aggressive move you love to see Denver make as they try to stay on top of a competitive division.”
Denver and the New England Patriots, who play in the AFC East and reached the Super Bowl last season, could be the next wave of tough teams the Bills will have to overcome. Hopefully, Buffalo will be able to take on and defeat both of those teams in the playoffs this season.
It will be interesting to see where the Bills rank in the Super Bowl picture after the draft, especially since the Patriots could also make the list if they end up adding Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
