After spending the entire 2025 season away from football, veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has announced his intention to return to the NFL.
The 33-year-old former Pro Bowl star is now searching for a new team and reportedly has strong interest in joining the Kansas City Chiefs.
Beckham recently made an unofficial return to football last weekend during the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, drawing attention from fans and scouts.
The appearance marked the first time Beckham had been seen playing competitive football since stepping away from the NFL.
His last official NFL appearance came in December 2024 while playing for the Miami Dolphins.
During the 2024 season with Miami, Beckham played nine games but had limited production throughout the year.
He finished the season with only nine receptions for 55 yards, including one game where he caught just a single pass.
Beckham did not play during the 2025 season, but he was issued a six-game suspension by the NFL.
However, the suspension was served while he was a free agent, meaning the penalty has already been completed.
If Beckham signs with a team in 2026, he would be immediately eligible to play without missing any games.
One potential landing spot gaining attention around the league is the Kansas City Chiefs.
Head coach Andy Reid could consider adding a veteran receiver to strengthen the team’s offensive depth.
The Chiefs currently have receivers Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton on the roster.
However, each of those players comes with questions about consistency and long-term reliability.
Thornton recorded just 19 receptions last season, while Worthy had a disappointing year with only 42 catches.
Meanwhile, Rice is dealing with a legal situation that could potentially lead to disciplinary action from the NFL.
Because of these uncertainties, adding an experienced receiver could help strengthen the offense around Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes would likely welcome another proven pass catcher capable of contributing in important moments.
For Beckham, joining a contender like the Kansas City Chiefs could provide the perfect opportunity for his NFL comeback.
If the move happens, the veteran receiver could once again find himself playing on one of the league’s biggest stages.
