The Buffalo Bills have already put together an aggressive and impressive start to the 2026 NFL offseason.

Over the last few years, the team has been so close to making a run to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, they have come up just short each and every year.

Brandon Beane and the front office have clearly decided to go all-in on winning now. With the championship wide open and superstar quarterback Josh Allen still in his prime, the Bills need to do whatever it takes to add talent.

So far this offseason, Buffalo has acquired wide receiver DJ Moore in a trade with the Chicago Bears. He will be the No. 1 wide receiver that Allen has badly needed. The Bills have also made moves in free agency to bring in players like pass rusher Bradley Chubb and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Now, Buffalo is being urged to take one more aggressive swing on a highly controversial player.

One of the areas that the Bills need to improve comes on the defensive line. They need an interior defensive lineman who can both help against the run and put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has shared that former star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins plans to play in 2026.

“Free agent Christian Wilkins fully intends to play this season, but still is rehabbing his foot injury, per his agent David Mulugheta,” Schefter wrote on X. “So far, 26 teams have reached out and are waiting for Wilkins to be ready, and Wilkins is expected to have a new home as soon as he wants.”

Wilkins hasn’t played in the NFL since being released by the Las Vegas Raiders following a strange incident in the locker room. However, he has been a quality player throughout his career.

Alex Brasky of On SI has urged Buffalo to sign Wilkins.

“If the Bills were willing to bring in Gardner-Johnson, they may also be willing to take a chance on a player like Wilkins, who, if healthy, would bring added pass-rush ability to the interior of their defensive line during the 2026 campaign,” Brasky wrote.

What Exactly Would Christian Wilkins Bring to Buffalo?

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, the 30-year-old defensive tackle has a long track record of NFL success.

Wilkins has played in six NFL seasons, appearing in 86 total games. He has recorded 372 total tackles to go along with 22.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, an interception, and 19 defended passes.

His numbers speak for themselves. Wilkins is capable of wreaking havoc on opposing offensive lines.

Back in 2023 with the Miami Dolphins, Wilkins had a career-best year. He played in 17 games and totaled 65 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and two defended passes. His career-high 98-tackle season came in 2022.

Whether or not the Bills actually have serious interest in Wilkins or not remains to be seen. However, it would be reasonable to believe that they are one of the 26 NFL teams who have contacted him with interest.
