The Dallas Cowboys have the 12th and 20th overall selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. There are a lot of holes on Dallas’s roster that need to be address on the defensive side of the football. The Cowboys have been known for making crazy trades.

This is why Dallas fans get mad at owner Jerry Jones constantly. They should be using the two first-round picks in the draft on defensive players. The question is, will they actually happen or will the Cowboys decide to do something different instead?
Dallas Cowboys Shockingly Trade Up In Latest PFF Mock Draft and Select RB Jeremiyah Love

Jordan Plocher of profootballfocus.com created his latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft. With Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love being projected to be a top five selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, Plocher has the Cowboys making a major trade to draft. He has Dallas trading the 12th and 20th overall selections to the Arizona Cardinals to the third overall pick to get him. Plocher said,
“Jerry Jones cares a lot about branding and putting on a show, and in this mock draft, the Cowboys owner/general manager sends both of the team’s first-round picks, Nos. 12 and 20, to theArizona Cardinalsfor the No. 3 overall selection and then selects the best player in the draft class in Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
Cowboys fans who know the roster have already grabbed torches and pitchforks to revolt at the idea of this, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. Love is a home-run threat out of the backfield, and his 726 breakaway rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns and 93.7 PFF rushing grade in 2025 all led the draft class.
Yes, the defense would be better off if Dallas spends its two first-round picks on defensive players, but adding Love to the mix withDak Prescott,CeeDee LambandGeorge Pickenscreates a lethal offense with a terrifying set of offensive skill players. It’s fun to think about.”
Dallas might have to give up more than that in real life if they want to jump from 12 to 3 to get Love. This would be the most insane that move that Jerry could possibly make. Getting another offensive weapon and not getting any defensive help would certainly be a choice for this football team.
There is no denying Love’s talent at running back, but this is something that Dallas does not need. He is 6’0″ and weighs 214 lbs. Love last season with Notre Dame rushed for 1,372 yards on 199 carries and 18 touchdowns, along with averaging 16.9 yards per reception. He also caught 27 passes for 280 yards receiving and three touchdowns, along with averaging 10.4 yards per reception.
The last time that the Cowboys drafted a running back in the top five was in 2016 when they selected fourth overall and took Ezekiel Elliott from the Ohio State Buckeyes. A lot of NFL Mock Drafts have the Tennessee Titans selecting Love fourth overall, however.
