The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones were serious contenders to get pass rusher Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones are usually tight their their pocketbook and one of the less flashy teams with trades, but that didn’t stop the Cowboys from being serious contenders to get pass rusher Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders to Texas during the NFL offseason. Adding Crosby to the Cowboys’ lineup for the 2026-27 season would be a big move that would help beef up the team’s defensive line, which is where they have roster holes.

The Cowboys were close to the Raiders in talks to acquire Crosby, but the edge was traded to the Baltimore Ravens. Of course, that deal went sour, and now, Crosby is back with the Raiders after failing his physical with the Ravens and says that he’s a “Raider for life.”

But, now, even Crosby is admitting that he doesn’t know if he’s a Las Vegas Raider forever. As he’s learned the hard way, anything is possible in the league, and just when you think things are set one way, they usually change to another.

So, Crosby’s is making comments that may perk up the ears of the Cowboys again, if they want to make this trade happen. Plus, due to Crosby’s failed physical with the Ravens, the Raiders probably won’t get those two first-round picks that they were going to get from Baltimore. That gives Jones and the Dallas Cowboys even more reason to look into bringing the edge to Texas.

Maxx Crosby Trade: He May Not Be With the Las Vegas Raiders Forever

Crosby’s failed physical may be a concern for the Dallas Cowboys, but he’s simply not completely healed yet, and once he is, he’ll be back to his solid self. During the 2025-26 NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.

Now, Crosby is saying things that show he doesn’t know if his future is with the Raiders. On the Tuesday, March 17 episode of his podcast, “The Rush With Maxx Crosby,” he talked about his journey during the offseason. He described the week as “probably one of the most unique, crazy, wild, up-and-down roller coasters I’ve ever been a part of.”

Basically, after getting his physical and meeting with Baltimore, he had a strange feeling abotu it. He called his surgeon, explaining, “He’s like, ‘Your knee is great. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be or even ahead of schedule.’ He’s like, ‘You’re doing everything right. They know you had your surgery nine weeks ago.’”

On his podcast, Crosby said that even though he believes that he’s meant to be a Las Vegas Raider for life, he doesn’t know anymore. “Until that changes — which I don’t foresee. Honestly, you never know in this … league,” he stated in a telling remark. “I found that out for sure. I just feel like I’m meant to be a Raider.”

He makes a point that things can change in an instant in the NFL. So, Crosby is admitting that “you never know” in the NFL and that he “feels” like he’s a Raider.

If the Dallas Cowboys want to make a flashy move, they need to be listening. Now is the time to think about a Crosby trade, even if it doesn’t happen for a few months.
