On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox lost to the Atlanta Braves by a score of 6-1 in their most recent spring training game.
The Red Sox will have three more exhibition games before they have their Opening Day matchup against the Cincinnati Reds on March 26 (in Ohio).
Like most teams around the league, they continue to make roster moves in advance of the 2026 MLB season.

On Saturday, the Red Sox announced a series of roster moves.
One of the decisions was to option Kyle Keller.
Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic wrote: “Red Sox announce some roster cuts: Kristian Campbell optioned to minor league camp along with pitchers Kyle Keller, Alec Gamboa, Tayron Guerrero, catcher Jason Delay, infielder Vinny Capra and outfielder Braiden Ward”
Keller’s MLB Career
Keller hasn’t appeared in an MLB game since the 2021 season when he was with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He had signed with the Red Sox last month.
Will Sammon of The Athletic wrote (on February 4): “Reliever Kyle Keller and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a minor league contract with an invite to major league spring training, league sources said. Keller gets $1.9 million if in majors plus $500K performance bonuses. In NPB career (152 1/3 innings), he had a 2.42 ERA.”

In addition to the Pirates, Keller has also spent time playing for the Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Angels over three MLB seasons.
He has gone 1-1 with a 5.83 ERA in 44 career games.
Daniel Fox of Just Baseball wrote: “Was a disappointing spring if you were hoping Kyle Keller would be able to seamlessly translate his NPB success back to MLB.
Feels like the last bullpen spot comes down to how ready Tommy Kahnle is and much they believe in Ryan Watson’s progression.”

The Red Sox are coming off a year where they were the third-place team in the American League East with an 89-73 record.
They went 48-33 at Fenway Park.
That said, the Red Sox lost to the New York Yankees in the Wild Card round.
