Here’s what people were saying about the news:
Greg Joyce: “One more cut: Yankees reassign Yovanny Cruz to minor league camp. He impressed with a triple-digit fastball late, but was delayed by a shoulder issue earlier in camp, making it tough to win a job. Certainly put himself on the radar though.”
Gary Phillips: “The #Yankees reassigned Yovanny Cruz to minor league camp. Not a surprise, but he turned some heads recently with his triple-digit heat and could be a guy who helps in the pen down the road.”
@javien114: “Kid has potential”
@Yanksland: “Gotta be up by May”

In Double-A last season, he had a 2-4 record with a 3.03 ERA in 34 games.
Chris Kirschner of The Athletic wrote (on March 17): “Aaron Boone said Yovanny Cruz is in the conversation to make the Opening Day bullpen, but it doesn’t seem realistic because he’s been behind schedule. He’s only had two outings.”

The Yankees have one of the elite rosters in the MLB (led by Aaron Judge) that should see them compete to win the AL East in 2026.
They are coming off a year where they reached the ALDS.
The franchise last won a World Series Championship during the 2009 season.
