On Saturday, the Chicago Cubs beat the Seattle Mariners by a score of 7-1 in their most recent spring training game.
The Cubs will have three more exhibition games before their Opening Day showdown with the Washington Nationals on March 26.
Cubs Make Roster Decision With 6-Year Player

On Saturday, the Cubs announced a series of moves.
One of those decisions involved Jeff Brigham.
Patrick Mooney of The Athletic wrote: “In their latest round of roster cuts, the Cubs sent infielders Jefferson Rojas and B.J. Murray and right-handed pitcher Jeff Brigham to minor-league camp. On the last weekend of spring training, the club still has 41 players in major-league camp.”

Brigham is coming off a year where he appeared in eight games for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He had signed with the Cubs over the offseason.
Maddie Lee of The Los Angeles Times wrote (on January 8): “Cubs announce they have signed RHP Jeff Brigham to a minor-league contract with an invite to major-league spring training camp.”

Brigham was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Washington.
He has played six seasons for the Miami Marlins, New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Over 94 games, he has a 4-10 record with a 4.85 ERA.
Mike Mayer of Metsmerized Online wrote (on June 2, 2023): “Jeff Brigham has been pretty good for the Mets: 3.26 ERA (2.78 xERA) 31.9 K% (90th percentile) .170 AVG (97th percentile) 28.6 Hard hit % (93rd percentile) His new cutter (throwing 16% of the time) is certainly part of the success.”

The Cubs are coming off a year where they went 92-70, which had them as the second-place team in the NL Central.
They beat the San Diego Padres in the Wild Card round (before losing to the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS).
