HE’S NOT JUST A FIRST-ROUND PICK — He’s the EXACT WEAPON the 49ers Have Been DESPERATELY Craving: 86kg of Pure Devastating Force, 27 Forced Missed Tackles, and a Ridiculous 15.1-Yard Chain-Moving Beast

The San Francisco 49ers have already reshaped their roster in a busy offseason, yet one glaring need remains unresolved heading into the 2026 NFL Draft: a true playmaking wide receiver who can elevate their passing attack and help push them back toward Super Bowl contention.

After parting ways with Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk, the team moved quickly in free agency to add future Hall of Famer Mike Evans. While Evans and Ricky Pearsall provide a solid foundation, the 49ers’ front office understands that two receivers alone will not be enough to power a championship run in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

With the No. 27 overall pick and just six total selections in the draft, San Francisco has zeroed in on a specific prototype of explosive, versatile wide receiver. That focus is evident in the team’s pre-draft preparations, most notably the scheduled top-30 visit with a prospect who perfectly matches the profile they have been seeking.

49ers scheduled top-30 visit with WR KC Concepcion

KC Concepcion arrives as one of the most intriguing options available at No. 27. The 5-11, 190-pound (approximately 86 kg) receiver transferred to the SEC for his final college season and emerged as a legitimate first-round prospect. He posted a career-high 919 receiving yards while averaging 15.1 yards per catch — the kind of chain-moving efficiency that translates directly to Shanahan’s scheme.

Concepcion’s game is defined by vertical explosiveness. He can stretch the field with elite speed and precise route-running, yet he is equally dangerous on short throws, where he averaged 7.2 yards after the catch. Originally a slot specialist, he spent 2025 primarily on the outside at Texas A&M, proving his ability to line up anywhere. His value is further enhanced by elite special-teams contributions, making him a multi-phase impact player worthy of consideration at pick 27.

The 49ers also scheduled a top-30 visit with Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr.

If Concepcion is selected before San Francisco is on the clock, the team has a strong backup plan in Omar Cooper Jr., one of the fastest-rising prospects of the entire offseason. Many evaluators now place him on the same tier as Concepcion, and the 49ers are not the only contenders showing serious interest in the national champion.

At 6-0 and 204 pounds, Cooper Jr. is a physical slot receiver who leverages his size and body control to win contested catches. He forced the fourth-most missed tackles in college football last season with 27, showcasing the contact balance and suddenness that make him a nightmare for defenders after the catch. Reliability is another hallmark: zero career fumbles and just three drops on 91 targets. His combination of speed, quickness, and toughness after contact makes him an ideal fit as a lethal slot weapon in Shanahan’s offense.

The 49ers will have several intriguing options available when they pick at No. 27, but wide receiver stands out as the clearest priority. These top-30 visits with Concepcion and Cooper Jr. will provide critical face-to-face evaluation time, allowing the front office to determine which prospect best addresses their biggest remaining weakness.

By the time the draft clock starts, San Francisco hopes one of these dynamic playmakers is still on the board — the exact weapon the roster has been begging for to complete an already aggressive offseason overhaul.
