After a turbulent 2025 season that ended with the Kansas City Chiefs missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era, the franchise is methodically rebuilding its roster. A six-game losing streak dropped Kansas City to 6-11 and third place in the AFC West, leaving the team with an unfamiliar early offseason and a valuable top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Yet the extra preparation time has already paid dividends in free agency, where the Chiefs have added proven talent: last year’s Super Bowl MVP running back and former Seattle Seahawks star Kenneth Walker, an extension for wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, and former Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens safety Alohi Gilman.
Even with those upgrades, one key piece remains missing on the defensive line — and All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones has made his preference crystal clear.
On Thursday, Jones took to X with a simple but pointed message: “Cam Jordan…”. The post, followed by radio silence, spoke volumes. The 36-year-old Jordan, a 15-year veteran who has spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints after being selected 24th overall in the 2011 draft, has just completed his 15th NFL season. A former California Golden Bear, Jordan has delivered elite production, posting four seasons of 10-plus sacks — including 10.5 in 2025 — while demonstrating remarkable durability by appearing in 243 of a possible 245 regular-season games.

The Chiefs, who ranked 11th in the league with just 47 sacks last season and leaned heavily on the veteran presence of Jones, could clearly use an injection of pass-rush talent. Jones’ public endorsement signals that the All-Pro believes Jordan is exactly the player who could help restore Kansas City’s championship pedigree.
On Monday, the wait for clarity ended. Appearing as a guest on “The Set,” the podcast hosted by Jacksonville Jaguars veteran defensive end Tarik Armstead, Jordan addressed his free-agency plans directly. While he stopped short of naming specific destinations, he confirmed that he and his wife had narrowed the field to three teams after careful discussion.
“Cam Jordan just told @T_Armstead72 he has three options in free agency that he and his wife recently talked over,” ESPN’s Katherine Terrell reported on X.
