As the New England Patriots returned from the bye week, so did a member of the 2024 draft class.
Rookie offensive tackle Caedan Wallace was on hand for Monday’s practice in Foxborough, officially opening his 21-day activation window.
Wallace, 24, was moved to injured reserve on Oct. 4 due to an ankle injury. The Penn State product had been downgraded from questionable to out after his left leg was rolled up on in what became a 30-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
Selected in the third round of the NFL draft at No. 68 overall, Wallace has appeared in four games for an offensive line in flux. Four games remain now. His campaign to date includes 40 snaps at left tackle, 30 snaps as an eligible tight end and 10 snaps on special teams. He made his first career start on the blindside on Sept. 19.
Wallace started 40 games at right tackle during his Nittany Lions tenure. As a redshirt senior last fall, the 6-foot-5, 314-pound bookend allowed one sack in pass protection on the way to an All-Big Ten honorable mention as well as invitations to the East-West Shrine Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine.
The Patriots previously opened starting interior lineman Cole Strange’s window to return from the physically unable to perform list on Nov. 20.
Head coach Jerod Mayo’s roster will visit the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Kickoff at State Farm Stadium is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
