Last season, the New England Patriots won the AFC in their first season under new head coach Mike Vrabel. After a one-year turnaround, the franchise is now focused on aggressively pursuing its first Super Bowl win since the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era.
After making a run to the big game last year, it’s clear that the Patriots aren’t far off. With the right offseason moves, they could take the leap and win it all in 2026.
One potential area of need currently comes at the wide receiver position. New England moved on from Stefon Diggs after a quality year last season. The Patriots moved quickly in NFL free agency to sign former Green Bay Packers wideout Romeo Doubs.
Swapping out Diggs for Doubs is basically a wash. If New England wants to improve the offensive arsenal for Drake Maye, pursuing another impact wide receiver could make sense.
Keeping that in mind, a new potential trade option has surfaced.
New England Patriots Could Consider Davante Adams Trade
According to a report from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Los Angeles Rams looked into the idea of trading Davante Adams while they pursued a trade for Philadelphia Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown.
“Per a league source, the Rams — while talking about a possible trade for Brown — were pursuing the possibility of trading Adams,” Florio wrote.
While the Eagles have yet to trade Brown, there have been rumblings that a deal could come to fruition. The Rams are expected to maintain their interest in Brown.
Should the trade talks reignite, could the Patriots consider trying to acquire Adams from Los Angeles? The move would make a lot of sense.
Of course, New England has also been pursuing a trade for Brown. If the Rams were to end up winning the Brown sweepstakes, the Patriots pivoting to Adams would make a ton of sense.

What Would Davante Adams Bring to the Patriots’ Offense?
Adams signed a two-year, $44 million contract with Los Angeles last offseason. Making a trade to acquire him would only guarantee New England one season of Adams.
That could drive down the trade price tag. If the compensation made sense, the Patriots should strongly consider trading for Adams.
During his first season with the Rams in 2025, Adams played in 14 games. He caught 60 passes for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also dealing with a hamstring injury late in the year.
At 33 years old, Adams is starting to move past his prime. New England wouldn’t be acquiring a superstar wide receiver in his prime, but Adams is still more than capable of playing like a No. 1 wideout.
Expect to continue hearing rumors about the Patriots as the offseason progresses. Adams may not end up being available for trade, but he could be an option for New England depending on what happens with Brown in Philadelphia.
