The Miami Heat will again be without veteran wing Andrew Wiggins as they prepare for a key Eastern Conference matchup.
Miami confirmed Wiggins will miss Saturday’s game against the Orlando Magic due to a lingering toe injury, extending his absence to five consecutive games.
The continued absence is notable because the team has ruled him out well in advance of tipoff, a sign the injury remains significant enough to keep him sidelined while Miami pushes through an important stretch of the schedule.
Andrew Wiggins Injury Raises Concerns for Heat

Wiggins has quietly been one of Miami’s most efficient players this season, and his health could be pivotal if the team hopes to make a deep postseason run.
NBA.com analyst Carlan Gay recently highlighted the importance of Wiggins’ role within Miami’s system.
“Wiggins is quietly having one of the better seasons of his career in Miami, and if the Heat are going to make any real noise in the playoffs, his health and consistency will be a huge part of it,” Gay wrote.
The veteran forward has delivered some of the best shooting numbers of his career.
Wiggins is currently hitting 39.9% of his three-point attempts, a career-best mark that has forced opposing defenses to respect his perimeter shooting more than ever.
“When a wing like Wiggins is knocking down shots at a career-best clip, it changes the way defenses have to guard Miami,” Gay wrote. “He is not just filling space on the perimeter. He is making teams pay for helping off him.”
Wiggins’ Efficiency Key to Miami’s Offense
Beyond his three-point shooting, Wiggins has also posted the best true shooting percentage of his career at 57.9%, reflecting his ability to remain efficient without dominating the ball.
“He is not forcing things,” Gay wrote. “He is taking good shots, playing within the flow and making the most of the possessions he gets.”
That approach fits well within Miami’s offensive structure.
The Heat do not rely on Wiggins to be a primary scorer every night. Instead, his value comes from playing a versatile role — defending multiple positions while providing efficient scoring when opportunities arise.
That reliability has made him an important piece of Miami’s rotation during the season.
Heat Stay Hot Despite Wiggins’ Absence
Even without Wiggins, Miami has continued to surge.
The Heat extended their winning streak to seven games with a 112–105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
All-Star center Bam Adebayo led the way with 21 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
Heat guard Pelle Larsson delivered a breakout performance with a career-high 28 points, while rookie Kasparas Jakucionis added 18 points.
Davion Mitchell chipped in 13 points, and rookie big man Kel’el Ware controlled the glass with 13 rebounds.
For Milwaukee, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo paced all scorers with 31 points, while Bobby Portis Jr. added 19.
The Bucks had a chance to tie the game late when Antetokounmpo missed an open three-pointer with 52 seconds remaining. Larsson secured the rebound and buried a three-pointer moments later to give Miami a six-point cushion.
Post-All-Star Surge Shows Wiggins’ Growth
When healthy, Wiggins has shown another layer of offensive growth this season.
According to Gay, the veteran wing has been particularly efficient since the All-Star break, producing numbers that approach the rare NBA efficiency benchmark.
“Post All-Star, Wiggins has been in 50/40/90 territory,” Gay wrote. “That stretch says a lot about where his game is right now.”
The efficiency reflects a player comfortable in his role within Miami’s system.
“He looks comfortable. He looks decisive,” Gay wrote. “And maybe most importantly for Miami, he looks like a player who understands exactly what is needed from him.”
For now, however, Miami will continue its push up the Eastern Conference standings without him.
The Heat currently sit sixth in the conference, just percentage points behind Orlando — making Saturday’s matchup against the Magic another important test as the playoff race intensifies.
