With the 2026 MLB season just around the corner, the Texas Rangers are fine-tuning their roster, and the excitement is palpable. As spring training unfolds, we’re seeing some standout performances and a few surprises that are shaping the Opening Day lineup.

Rangers’ Opening Day Position Players

Let’s break down the lineup. Behind the plate, Kyle Higashioka and Danny Jansen are set to handle catching duties.

Jake Burger will anchor first base, while Josh Smith takes second. Corey Seager is locked in at shortstop, and Josh Jung is expected to make a return from his abductor strain to cover third base.

The outfield features Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and Brandon Nimmo, each bringing their own flair to the field. The designated hitter role will be a platoon between Andrew McCutchen and Joc Pederson, with McCutchen sporting #4 and thriving against left-handed pitching.

Rangers’ Opening Day Rotation

On the mound, Jacob deGrom leads a formidable rotation, followed by Nathan Eovaldi. Despite a rough spring with a 12.79 ERA, MacKenzie Gore retains his spot as the third starter, thanks to the confidence of manager Skip Schumaker. Jack Leiter’s emergence adds depth, and Jacob Latz edges out Kumar Rocker for the final rotation spot, based on recent performances.

Rangers’ Opening Day Bullpen

The bullpen is shaping up with Tyler Alexander, Carter Baulmer, and closer Robert Garcia leading the charge. Chris Martin and Cole Winn add experience, while Kumar Rocker shifts to a bullpen role, offering valuable innings.

The surprise package here is Rule 5 Draft pick Baulmer, whose 3.2 scoreless innings have turned heads. Meanwhile, Alexis Diaz is working to find his form after a challenging spring.

As the Rangers gear up for the season opener, their roster reflects a mix of seasoned talent and promising newcomers. With a rotation that could be among the league’s best and a lineup packed with potential, Texas fans have plenty to be excited about. Keep an eye on these developments as the countdown to March 26 continues.
