Chris Davis Headlines 2026 Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame Class

The Baltimore Orioles have officially announced the 2026 Orioles Hall of Fame class, honoring three individuals who made lasting contributions to the franchise: former slugger Chris Davis, pitcher Storm Davis, and longtime scout and executive Jim Russo.

The trio will be formally inducted during a special ceremony later this summer at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The celebration will begin with a luncheon hosted by the Oriole Advocates on July 31, followed by an on-field ceremony before the Orioles’ game on August 1 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 2026 class represents a mix of modern-era power, championship-era pitching, and historic scouting excellence, highlighting individuals who helped shape the franchise both on and off the field.

Chris Davis: One of the Orioles’ Most Powerful Sluggers

Chris Davis headlines the 2026 induction class after building one of the most memorable power-hitting careers in Orioles history.

During his time in Baltimore, Davis became known for his towering home runs and his ability to change a game with a single swing. Over parts of 10 seasons with the Orioles from 2011 to 2020, the left-handed first baseman compiled impressive offensive numbers.

His career statistics with Baltimore include:

  • 253 home runs (sixth in franchise history)

  • 656 RBIs

  • .230 batting average

  • .318 on-base percentage

  • .459 slugging percentage

Across 1,151 games, Davis established himself as one of the most feared hitters in the American League during his prime years.

Historic 2013 Season

Davis’ most memorable campaign came in 2013, when he delivered one of the greatest offensive seasons in Orioles history.

That year, he led Major League Baseball in several categories while setting multiple franchise records:

  • 53 home runs

  • 138 RBIs

  • 96 extra-base hits

  • 370 total bases

His incredible performance earned him a Silver Slugger Award at first base and solidified his reputation as one of the game’s most dangerous hitters.

Another Power Surge in 2015

Davis again dominated the league in 2015, finishing the season with 47 home runs, the most in Major League Baseball that year.

That achievement made him the only player in Orioles history to record two separate seasons with at least 40 home runs.

Because of his impact during those dominant years, Davis was voted Most Valuable Oriole twice.

Contract, Injuries, and Career End

In January 2016, the Orioles rewarded Davis with a massive seven-year, $161 million contract, one of the largest deals in franchise history at the time.

However, injuries and declining performance eventually shortened the final chapter of his career.

Despite those challenges, Davis’ legacy remains secure thanks to the historic power numbers he produced during his peak seasons.

Now approaching his 40th birthday, Davis will receive formal recognition as one of the most impactful hitters to ever wear an Orioles uniform.

Impact Beyond Baseball

Beyond his achievements on the field, Davis was also known for his contributions off the field.

He was nominated three times for the Roberto Clemente Award, Major League Baseball’s highest honor recognizing players for humanitarian work and community service.

That recognition highlights the broader impact Davis made during his time in Baltimore.

Storm Davis: Key Pitcher in Orioles Championship Era

Joining Chris Davis in the 2026 Orioles Hall of Fame class is former right-handed pitcher Storm Davis.

Storm Davis spent six of his 13 major league seasons with Baltimore, serving primarily as a starting pitcher during the early 1980s before later returning as a reliever.

Between 1982 and 1986, he was a key member of the Orioles’ pitching rotation.

During his career with Baltimore, Davis recorded:

  • 61 wins and 43 losses

  • 5 saves

  • 3.63 ERA

  • 539 strikeouts

  • 202 appearances (123 starts)

1983 World Series Contribution

One of Storm Davis’ most memorable moments came during the 1983 World Series, when the Orioles captured their most recent championship.

At just 21 years old, Davis posted a 13–7 record with a 3.59 ERA that season.

He also earned the victory in Game 4 of the World Series, helping Baltimore secure the title.

Among Orioles pitchers with at least 900 innings pitched, Davis ranks:

  • Sixth in winning percentage (.587)

  • Eighth in ERA (3.63)

Those numbers reflect his consistent effectiveness during one of the most successful periods in franchise history.

Jim Russo: Architect Behind Orioles Talent Pipeline

The third honoree, Jim Russo, is being recognized for his decades-long contributions to the Orioles organization as a scout and executive.

Russo began his professional scouting career with the St. Louis Browns in 1951. When the franchise relocated to Baltimore in 1954, he continued working with the organization that eventually became the Orioles.

Over the course of 36 years in baseball — including 33 with Baltimore — Russo played a major role in identifying and recruiting talent that helped shape the team’s success.

Signing Future Stars

As a scout, Russo helped the Orioles sign several players who would become franchise legends, including:

  • Jim Palmer

  • Davey Johnson

  • Boog Powell

  • Eddie Watt

He was also credited with recommending trades that brought numerous key players to Baltimore, including:

  • Frank Robinson

  • Mike Cuellar

  • Lee May

  • Ken Singleton

  • Ross Grimsley

  • Mike Torrez

  • Pat Dobson

  • Don Stanhouse

  • Doyle Alexander

Many of those players played critical roles in Baltimore’s competitive teams throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Russo retired after the 1986 season, leaving behind a legacy of talent evaluation that helped sustain the Orioles’ long-term success.

He passed away in February 2004.

Legacy Through the Jim Russo Award

Since 2003, the Orioles have honored their top scout each year with the Jim Russo Scout of the Year Award, ensuring that his influence on the organization continues to be remembered.

Orioles Celebrate Franchise History

The induction of Chris Davis, Storm Davis, and Jim Russo reflects the Orioles’ ongoing effort to honor individuals who shaped the team’s history in different eras.

From record-setting home runs to championship pitching and decades of scouting excellence, the 2026 Orioles Hall of Fame class represents the diverse contributions that have defined the franchise.

When the ceremony takes place at Camden Yards this summer, Orioles fans will celebrate not only three deserving honorees — but also the rich legacy of baseball in Baltimore. ⚾
