49ers inactive list: Talanoa Hufanga returns to the Niners secondary

The San Francisco 49ers will play yet another game without their two best players, Nick Bosa and Trent Williams, who are inactive against the Chicago Bears. Here’s a look at today’s inactive list:

QB Josh Dobbs

LT Trent Williams (heel)

LG Aaron Banks (concussion)

DE Nick Bosa (hip/oblique)

LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles

CB Rock Ya-Sin

RB Israel Abanikanda

Jaylon Moore and Ben Bartch will hold down the left side of the line of scrimmage. Bartch’s physicality has given the 49ers an identity they lacked, with Banks playing at left guard.

Given his speed, I wonder how long it is until we see Abanikanda active.

The Niners will roll with rookie Isaac Guerendo, and he’ll be backed up by Patrick Taylor. If there was ever a time to give Deebo Samuel carries as a running back, this is the game. Samuel has been electric as a returner during the past month. Kyle Shanahan should find different ways to get Deebo involved early and often.

Talanoa Hufanga will be active with some type of brace or cast protecting his wrist. If you’re Nick Sorensen, do you start Hufanga? His awareness and knack for being around the ball would go a long way in generating a turnover playing against a rookie quarterback.

The Chicago Bears are without running back Roschon Johnson. He hasn’t been overly effective as a backup, only averaging 2.9 yards on 48 attempts. Safety Elijah Hicks, who has played 296 snaps this season in five starts, is also out for Chicago.
