The Green Bay Packers have officially named Cam Achord as their new special teams coordinator, marking a significant transition for a unit in search of stability. The announcement follows the departure of Rich Bisaccia and signals a fresh direction for one of the team’s most scrutinized phases.

Achord arrives in Green Bay with experience coordinating special teams at the NFL level and a reputation for detail-oriented coaching. His hiring reflects the Packers’ intent to reset a group that has experienced uneven performance in recent seasons.

Special teams have often played a pivotal role in close contests, and Green Bay’s leadership understands the impact of consistency in that area. From field position battles to late-game kicks, incremental improvements can swing outcomes over the course of a season.

Achord’s immediate objective will be to instill discipline and accountability while maximizing the talents already on the roster. Coverage units, return efficiency and situational awareness are expected to be focal points as offseason programs begin to take shape.

Achord has been hired as the new special teams coordinator after Bisaccia exited. This is detailed more in a report posted on the franchise’s official website.

The Green Bay Packers have named Cam Achord special teams coordinator. Head Coach Matt LaFleur made the announcement Friday.

(AY-cord) Achord comes to the Packers with 10 years of experience coaching special teams in the NFL, including four seasons as a coordinator. Over the past two seasons he served as assistant special teams coach with the New York Giants (2024-25). Last season he helped coach a unit that returned 70 kickoffs for a single-season franchise-record 1,942 yards (27.7 avg.), surpassing the previous record of 1,688 yards set in 1964.

The transition also represents a broader recalibration within the coaching staff. With Bisaccia’s exit closing one chapter, the organization is looking to maintain continuity in its overall culture while injecting new energy into the special teams room.

For a franchise with postseason aspirations, the margin for error remains slim. Achord’s task will be to ensure that special teams become an asset rather than a liability as the Packers prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.
