BILLS FANS, WAKE UP: The Tyreek Hill signing everyone’s drooling over would actually EXPLODE in their faces and bury their Super Bowl hopes FOREVER!

It is no secret that the Buffalo Bills have some serious improvements to make to their roster. One of the most problematic areas that requires adjusting is the wide receiver room. Though there are potentially big trade options to explore, not to mention the possibility of the draft.

The Bills will have a little wiggle room when it comes to the salary cap, though there are potential value additions to be made. With pressure to have a big offseason, general manager Brandon Beane may be tempted to take a swing that is considered outside the box.

The name Tyreek Hill has come up quite a bit lately. Recovering from a gruesome leg injury and done with the Miami Dolphins, Hill is a former high-end receiver who could become an option for the Bills. That said, there are more than a few reasons not to pursue the option.

Top 3 reasons Bill should avoid Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill in free agency

1. Hill brings too much baggage

A receiver with the track record (and contract) Hill has does not become available unless there are some serious questions. Those questions often have to do with Hill’s behavior, plus more than a few off-field issues.

For starters, there were domestic violence allegations levied against him near the end of 2025. They were part of ugly divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Keeta Vaccaro. The potential for him to be suspended by the league is there, not to mention the negative publicity it would bring.

There is also the fact that Hill made several thinly veiled comments regarding his quarterback Tua Tagovailoa while the two were in Miami. If he is unhappy at any point with the Bills, who’s to say he wouldn’t take the same shots at Josh Allen?

2. The cost is likely to be too high

Hill was let go from a four-year, $120 million contract. Needless to say, he isn’t going to be commanding a $30 million AAV, but he isn’t going to come in on a veteran’s minimum deal, either. The Bills are more than likely looking for a receiver coming in at under $15 million per season, if they even shoot that high.

If Hill were merely coming off the leg injury and looking for a new start, that would be one thing. Add in the character concerns, and it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Only if he’s willing to take an obscenely cheap deal to prove himself should Beane consider it for more than a second.

3. There are just too many questions

Character concerns and a large deal should be enough to dispel any logical general manager from signing Hill. But those aren’t the only potential concerns over bringing in a player like that.

For starters, the leg injury shouldn’t be glossed over. He suffered a torn ACL and dislocated knee in Week 4 against the New York Jets. The general timeline for a return from that kind of injury is 9-12 months, and even that would probably be pushing it.

Add in the fact that Hill will be 32 on March 1, and it only becomes a bigger question mark. Realistically, Hill probably won’t be ready for the start of the season even if he tries to rapidly accelerate the timeline. The Bills are looking for someone to step in and improve the receiver room immediately, and Hill may not be able to do that.

The Rewards are Not Going to Outweigh the Risks

At the end of the day, people hope for what Tyreek Hill was and aren’t being realistic about what he’s likely to be. After back-to-back seasons of more than 1,700 yards in Miami, he fell below the 1,000-yard mark in 2024. In four games, he was averaging 66.3 yards per contest. It looked like the fall-off had already begun.

With a plethora of potential options available, bringing Hill in just doesn’t make sense. The potential is certainly tantalizing, but there are just far too many questions to justify this kind of move in what has been a precarious time for the franchise.
