The Boston Red Sox are exploring their options at third base, considering both internal talent and potential trades. While Marcelo Mayer and Caleb Durbin are possibilities, the team might benefit from bringing in a seasoned veteran to solidify the position.

The Red Sox have a variety of assets at their disposal, including promising prospects and current roster players, giving them flexibility in pursuing a third baseman.

One intriguing trade scenario involves bringing Isaac Paredes to Boston. Although his career has seen its ups and downs, Paredes offers significant potential as a big-time hitter.

Trade Proposal:

  • Red Sox Receive: Isaac Paredes
  • Astros Receive: Brayan Bello

Isaac Paredes could become a key contributor at third base and designated hitter for the Red Sox. Last season, he showcased his versatility by also playing first base after Houston acquired Carlos Correa.

Despite a hamstring injury limiting his playtime, Paredes delivered solid numbers, hitting .254 with 20 home runs, 53 runs, 53 RBIs, and a .809 OPS over 102 games. Surrounded by Boston’s strong lineup, including Roman Anthony, Trevor Story, Jarren Duran, Willson Contreras, and Wilyer Abreu, Paredes could thrive.

Fenway Park’s Green Monster might also enhance his pull-hitting style.

There are rumors that the Astros might be open to moving Paredes, even though they recently acquired him. His talent is undeniable, despite some inconsistent stretches.

If the Red Sox are uncertain about their current third base options, adding Paredes as a right-handed bat could be a strategic move, offering both power and flexibility to their lineup.
