The Miami Dolphins have gone through plenty of changes this NFL offseason so far between hiring their new general manager in Jon-Eric Sullivan, and head coach in Jeff Hafley. The next big thing for the Dolphins will be to figure out their quarterback position for the future.
*Prediction*
With Tua Tagovailoa’s time seemingly over with the Dolphins, Miami needs to figure out how they can get the right quarterback on the team to turn things around for the future.
Many have linked Miami to having interest in signing Malik Willis due to Hafley and Sullivan’s connection to him during their time on the Green Bay Packers together the last few seasons. Instead, there is another quarterback that makes sense for them to turn to instead, and that is Jimmy Garoppolo.
Miami Dolphins Sign Jimmy Garoppolo to Replace Tua Tagovailoa
Jimmy Garoppolo is far from the quarterback he once used to be, but he still can provide the Dolphins with a bridge quarterback, which is exactly what they need at this point.
The Dolphins need to be looking to draft their quarterback of the future instead of signing one, as it would give them a new quarterback on a rookie deal, which would further help the team and being able to turn things around with utilizing the money to further improve other areas on the team for the future instead.
By signing Jimmy Garoppolo, the Dolphins would have their bridge quarterback that they need for one or two years while they get their rookie quarterback in place. Garoppolo has 12 years of NFL experience, and has completed 67.4% of his passes for 15,828 yards and 96 touchdowns. He hasn’t brought major uplifting play, but he has brought stabilizing play, which is what the Dolphins need at this point.
Jeff Hafley and Jimmy Garoppolo were together on the San Francisco 49ers when Hafley was their defensive backs coach from 2016-2018. With having that connection and already knowing what Garoppolo brings, it will lead to the Dolphins further having interest in signing Garoppolo.
