Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was originally selected to be in the 2026 Pro Bowl, but will he be there on Tuesday, February 3?
The Buffalo Bills won’t be competing in the Super Bowl this Sunday, which is disappointing news. However, there is some positive buzz surrounding quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen appeared at new head coach Joe Brady’s introductory press conference last Thursday, using crutches and wearing a boot.
The 29-year-old quarterback updated everyone that he recently underwent a procedure to repair a broken bone in his right foot.
“I had a little broken bone in there, so they went and took it out and cleaned it up,” Allen said of his surgery, via NFL.com’s Bobby Kownack. “Obviously, not an ideal situation. Painful throughout the weeks. But, again, game day, different story, just being able to put that to the side and go out there and play football.”
Allen Updated His Injury Status on Tuesday
Although it has been less than a week since Allen updated everyone about his recent surgery, he decided to share his status again on Tuesday.
Allen appeared on “CBS Sports HQ” with host Chris Hassel, who asked Allen how he was doing.
“Doing good still in a boot, I got some stitches in it, wasn’t a crazy surgery, so not too much recovery time, looking forward to getting back to full health soon,” Allen said.
The good news is that Allen will have plenty of time to recover from his surgery, since the Bills won’t play another meaningful game until September.
Although Allen will be taking some time to rest, he will soon have his hands full again down the road.
While everyone is concerned about Allen recovering from his recent surgery, he’s actually on the verge of a significant life update from a non-football standpoint.
Allen Is Going to Have a Big Year
Allen and his wife, Hailee Steinfeld, are expecting their first baby in the coming months. This means that Allen needs to be in the best shape possible as he prepares to care for their newborn, and he is determined to do so.
“Yeah, I’ll be 100% ready for when the baby comes, absolutely,” Allen added. “I feel like that is game day, that it doesn’t matter how I’m feeling, but on gameday, I’m feeling good.”
Allen is gearing up for an exciting year ahead as he prepares to become a new dad, recovers from surgery and adjusts to working with a new head coach.
Although Brady joined the Bills in 2022 and has been Buffalo’s offensive coordinator since mid-2023, becoming a head coach is a whole different ballgame.
Brady will need time to adjust to his role as head coach, and during this period, Allen could play a key role in leading the offense.
The Bills are set to have a new look next season, and it’s going to be exciting to see how that unfolds. Over the last nine seasons, Buffalo has been led by head coach Sean McDermott, but with him being let go, the Bills could take a different direction. This could be a positive change or potentially something less favorable.
