The Boston Red Sox have been on a wild ride this MLB offseason. After making Alex Bregman their top priority and watching him bolt to the Chicago Cubs, the front office refused to stand still.
They already dropped a massive splash by locking up former Phillies ace Ranger Suárez to a five-year, $130 million deal. But Boston clearly isn’t done.

Now the latest rumor has the baseball world buzzing: the Red Sox are emerging as a serious suitor for Eugenio Suárez—and they’re one of the top two landing spots on the board.
Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly just dropped his power rankings for Suárez’s next home, slotting Boston at No. 2 (just behind the Angels). Kelly nailed it:
“Suárez would fit the bill for the Red Sox, taking over as their third baseman and providing elite power production for a relatively short commitment. He feels like someone who would make a killing hitting at Fenway Park—and indeed he has four homers and 14 RBI in just 10 career games in Boston.”

The numbers back it up. In 2025, split between Arizona and Seattle, the veteran third baseman crushed 49 home runs, drove in 118 runs, and posted a .228/.298/.526 slash line across 159 games. That’s exactly the kind of right-handed thunder Boston desperately needs after losing Bregman’s production (18 HR, 62 RBI, .273/.360/.462 in 114 games).
Spotrac projects Suárez at roughly $29.9 million over two years. For that price, he’s a no-brainer.
He’s not Bregman in the clubhouse or on the field defensively, but his bat is a game-changer. Fenway’s Green Monster was practically built for his pull power. Even as a one-year bridge at third base, Suárez instantly upgrades the middle of the order and keeps the Red Sox in the AL East hunt.
Expect the rumors to heat up fast. If Boston wants to make another splash this winter, Eugenio Suárez just became the loudest name on the board.
