Warriors news: Andre Iguodala thinks NBA is missing the dominant Dubs

Andre Iguodala Urges Fans to Appreciate Stephen Curry and the Warriors While They Can

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – As the Golden State Warriors navigate what may be the twilight of their historic run, veteran forward Andre Iguodala is urging fans to cherish the moments that remain with one of the most iconic teams in modern NBA history.

Despite a season filled with ups and downs, and the Warriors currently sitting eighth in the Western Conference with a 24-19 record, Iguodala’s message is clear: the impact of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and the Warriors dynasty extends far beyond wins and losses.

“People forget how hard it is to win,” Iguodala told HoopsHype’s Raul Barrigon. “Everyone’s asking about that dynasty, when will it die? It’s like, how many dynasties have there been in sports, period? You look at basketball, there’s been five, six, maybe? You have Boston, the Lakers have had two. Chicago, the Warriors. Spurs, too, although they never went back-to-back. But they are a dynasty. It’s really rare to see, and sometimes you can take it for granted.”

The Warriors, who captured four championships between 2015 and 2022, have transformed the game of basketball in ways that go far beyond the scoreboard. Iguodala, 2015 Finals MVP and a critical component of Golden State’s dynasty, emphasized the profound influence of Curry and Thompson’s shooting on the modern game.

“But the effect that you’ve seen it have on a game of basketball, even how it’s played, I think speaks volumes to Steph, Klay Thompson, their shooting ability, they just changed the game. I think you just got to appreciate it while it’s still here because what Steph’s doing at the level he’s still doing it at, oh my.”

Curry’s individual numbers this season underscore his continued excellence despite being in his mid-30s: averaging 27.6 points on 56.8% shooting, 4.9 assists, nearly 3.8 rebounds, and contributing over a steal per game in 32 minutes of action. Even as age begins to creep into the once-young core, Curry remains the engine that drives Golden State’s offense, capable of dominating in ways few players in history have managed.

Yet the 2025-26 season may serve as the Warriors’ final realistic shot at title No. 5 since 2015. With veterans Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler all over 30 and the emergence of young teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder and a revitalized San Antonio Spurs, Golden State faces mounting competition in the Western Conference.

Even head coach Steve Kerr has acknowledged the reality, describing the team as a “fading dynasty” while striving to maximize the remaining championship window. The balance between leveraging experience and mitigating decline has never been more critical. Iguodala’s perspective adds a philosophical lens: it’s not just about the end result, but appreciating the historical significance of the Warriors’ era in real time.

“That team was so special because people became accustomed to us just winning every year, and they forgot how hard it was to win,” Iguodala said. “You got people that never played in the playoffs, people that never got out of the first round. People that never got to the Finals, you got all-time greats who never made the Finals or never won one. I think that just speaks to how amazing, how blessed Stephen Curry is. Who he is as a person, catalyst for it all. Obviously, Kevin Durant is a one-of-one talent. But just the influence and feeling he brought to the game, and like how the fans interacted with that dynasty.”

Iguodala’s remarks are a reminder that Golden State’s impact isn’t measured solely by championships, though four titles in eight seasons certainly place them among the elite. Their style of play—emphasizing pace, space, three-point shooting, and small-ball lineups—has influenced nearly every team in the league. Curry’s deep-range shooting has inspired a generation of players, while Thompson’s catch-and-shoot efficiency has redefined perimeter defense strategies across the NBA.

Off the court, the Warriors’ dynasty has been a cultural phenomenon, shaping fan expectations, media narratives, and even NBA analytics. The rise of advanced shooting metrics, lineup optimization, and spacing analytics owes a debt to the Warriors’ dominance. Iguodala’s call to fans is not just about loyalty—it’s about historical context, urging a recognition of what these players have contributed to basketball itself.

For younger fans who didn’t witness the early years of the dynasty, it’s easy to take for granted the level of excellence Curry and his teammates have sustained. For veteran followers, Iguodala’s words are a stark reminder: the end is approaching, and history doesn’t wait. Each game is an opportunity to witness greatness before it fades.

Golden State’s current campaign, though fraught with challenges, still offers fans moments to savor. Curry remains a scoring machine, Butler brings toughness and playoff experience, and Green’s defensive IQ continues to anchor the team. Even with the uncertainties of aging and competition, the Warriors’ ethos—team-first, resilient, and innovative—remains intact.

As the Warriors continue their hunt for another title, Iguodala’s perspective encourages fans to look beyond the wins and losses. It’s a call to celebrate the dynasty’s influence on the game, the brilliance of Curry, and the enduring excitement this team brings, regardless of what the record shows.

“The dynasty isn’t just about the banners or the trophies,” Iguodala concluded. “It’s about the way you change a game, influence a generation, and create moments that people talk about for decades. Appreciate it while it’s still here, because the window doesn’t last forever.”

For Golden State fans, those words resonate like a buzzer-beater: a reminder to savor every assist, three-pointer, and clutch defensive play before the curtain closes on one of the NBA’s most transformative eras.
