Rangers Secretly Shopping This Corner Infielder… And It Could Be the Blockbuster Move That Saves Their Season! 😱⚾

Rangers could benefit greatly by trading this corner infielder - Yahoo Sports

The Texas Rangers will step into the 2026 season with some new faces. First of all, they will have a new manager in Skip Schumaker, and he will be taking over for Bruce Bochy after the two sides mutually agreed to part ways in late September.

However, that is not all. They acquired Danny Jansen, Alexis Diaz, Chris Martin, and Tyler Alexander so far this winter. But they did lose some key contributors like Marcus Semien, Adolis Garcia, and Jonah Heim.

And in a division like the AL West, they will need all the help they can get. The Seattle Mariners will come out strong, and you can never count out the Houston Astros, even if 2025 was not too kind to them.

While we are just a month away from pitchers and catchers reporting, there are not many options left on the open market for teams still looking to make an upgrade or acquire depth.

This is when trades start to pick up. While we have seen numerous trades so far, we could start seeing a ton more in the coming days/weeks.

It would be smart for the Rangers to listen to all offers they get. However, Jake Burger seems the most likely to be moved if a trade were to happen.

Rangers' Jake Burger Brings Little Production in Return to Lineup

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller also voices this opinion, explaining that it would save the team money and open up an opportunity for an exciting prospect.

“Burger didn’t play any third base last year, but he used to. He also used to be a consistent source of an OPS of at least .760, but his final season with Texas was a rough one at the dish. And at this point, he is blocking Abimelec Ortiz’s path to regular playing time as a rookie. He’s also another couple of million dollars the Rangers could trim from the payroll.”

Ortiz is the club’s No. 12 prospect and could see a path to the lineup with Burger gone. Why not move on from someone who has taken a step back with his offensive abilities, save payroll, and see what you got from one of your exciting youngsters?
