The Bills are gearing up for a playoff game against the Broncos in Denver on Saturday. Meanwhile, Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, is also preparing for the possibility of stepping into an NFL head coaching role.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that Brady is set to have head coaching interviews with the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens. The plan is for him to meet with both teams on Sunday.
Brady is Looking For an NFL Head Coaching Job
Brady is one of the hottest coaching candidates on the market for the second straight season. He could have landed a head coaching position last offseason and even had the opportunity to coach the New Orleans Saints.
However, Brady decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the Saints’ head coaching position just the night before the AFC Championship game.
The Falcons and Ravens present excellent opportunities for Brady. Both teams are stacked with talent, especially Baltimore, which boasts one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Lamar Jackson.
Baltimore could see what Brady has done with Josh Allen the last two and a half seasons and hope he can work the same magic with Jackson.
Although Brady’s name has come up in discussions about head coaching opportunities and interviews, many analysts around the league don’t expect him to secure a coaching position this cycle.
As of Friday night, there are currently nine head coaching opportunities available. However, the New York Giants are expected to hire former Ravens coach John Harbaugh, reducing the number of openings to eight.
Although there will be eight more opportunities for Brady to secure a job, he may only land one if the top candidates for a team aren’t ready to accept an offer.
Brady could benefit from another season as the Bills’ offensive coordinator, and it wouldn’t hurt to let him coach in Buffalo for one more year with one of the best quarterbacks in the sport.
Bills Could be Team to Beat in AFC
The Bills are one win away from reaching the AFC title for a second straight season. But this time they won’t have to get past the Kansas City Chiefs to reach the postseason.
Kansas City took down the Bills four of the last five playoffs, but with the Chiefs out, the Bills have a chance to finally reach the Super Bowl. But the Broncos aren’t going to be an easy out.
Denver has the No. 1 seed in the AFC and one of the best defenses in the NFL. It’s going to be tricky for the Bills to pull off a win, but if any player can do it, it would be Allen.
It will be interesting to see how the Broncos perform, given that they had a bye in the first week of the playoffs while the Bills were in action. Sometimes, teams that sit out for two weeks can come out a bit rusty, which could give the Bills an edge. If they can get off to a fast start, it might force Denver to play catch-up for the remainder of the game.
