How Much Luka Dončić Spent on E-Bike Gifts for Lakers Teammates and Staff

Luka Dončić’s impact on the Los Angeles Lakers continues to extend far beyond the court.
Following Tuesday’s practice, Lakers coach JJ Redick revealed that the franchise star surprised teammates, coaches and basketball operations staff with high-end Pedal electric bikes as Christmas gifts — a gesture that underscored Dončić’s growing leadership presence within the organization.
“He got everybody in basketball operations,” Redick told reporters. “I think it was 103 total gifts. Very, very high-end e-bike. So I’ll be excited to drive that down the beach. Looking forward to a very nice gesture from him. Guys all really, really enjoyed it.”
Based on current retail pricing, Dončić’s holiday surprise carried an estimated total cost of more than $340,000, according to calculations using Pedal Electric’s listed prices. Dončić gifted players the Pedal All-Wheel Drive S model — priced at $3,350 during the holiday sale — while members of the Lakers’ basketball operations staff received the lighter H/T model, listed at $2,250.
Lakers Players Receive $3,600 All-Wheel Drive Pedal E-Bikes
Dončić gifted players the Pedal All-Wheel Drive S, the flagship model from Venice-based Pedal Electric, an e-mobility brand founded in 2020 by Spencer Gillis and Steven Melendez.
The All-Wheel Drive S retails for $3,650 per bike, though it is currently listed at $3,350.
Built for both performance and stability, the dual-motor e-bike features a range of 45 to 80 miles and can reach speeds of up to 36 miles per hour in Sport Mode, 28 mph in Class 3 and 20 mph in Class 2 settings.
The bike is equipped with full suspension, dual 1,000-watt front and rear motors, and a 1,200-watt-hour battery — making it one of the most powerful consumer e-bikes currently available.
Pedal Electric describes the All-Wheel Drive S as a premium, all-in-one solution designed to blend performance, comfort and durability, positioning it as the brand’s signature model.
Lakers Staff Gifted Lightweight Pedal H/T Model
While players received Pedal’s top-tier model, Lakers staff members were gifted the more lightweight Pedal H/T, which retails for $2,450 and is currently on sale for $2,250.
The H/T features a 40- to 60-mile range, front suspension, a 750-watt rear motor and a 768-watt-hour battery. Designed as Pedal’s hardtail model, the bike emphasizes nimbleness, efficiency and everyday usability.
According to the company, the H/T’s lightweight frame and engineered geometry make it particularly accessible for shorter riders while offering improved control and comfort for daily commuting.
A Pedal Electric representative told Heavy Sports via email that the Lakers’ star’s gesture was “an unexpected moment — and a very nice surprise” for the young brand.
Dončić’s Leadership Extends Beyond Basketball
Redick said the holiday gift was consistent with Dončić’s personality and his awareness of the influence he carries as one of the NBA’s most recognizable stars.
“We saw that last year with the way he responded — even basically a fun battle of fires to give it back,” Redick said. “It’s just who he is. He’s cognizant of the platform and sort of place that he has within each community that he’s been in.”
Redick added that Dončić has continued that approach in Los Angeles, citing team-building experiences such as a Porsche driving event earlier this season.
“LA has been no different, and this team has been no different,” Redick said.
Dončić’s Philanthropy Continues to Grow in Los Angeles
The holiday surprise comes months after Dončić signed a three-year, $165 million maximum extension with the Lakers in August.
Following the deal, Dončić committed $5 million to support 77 young athletes worldwide through his foundation.
Since arriving in Los Angeles after his stunning midseason trade from the Dallas Mavericks last year, Dončić has made several high-profile charitable contributions within the community.
Shortly after the trade, he donated $500,000 to L.A. wildfire recovery efforts and pledged to work with local organizations to rebuild basketball courts, playgrounds and sports facilities damaged by the fires.
Dončić also contributed $5,000 to a GoFundMe campaign aimed at restoring a vandalized mural depicting Kobe and Gianna Bryant — a gesture that resonated deeply within the Lakers fan base.
A Gesture That Resonates Across the Organization
While the Lakers’ season remains focused on championship aspirations, Dončić’s latest act of generosity reinforced the culture he is helping shape in Los Angeles.
From teammates to staff to the surrounding community, the Slovenian superstar continues to leave his imprint — one gesture at a time — as the face of the Lakers’ next era.
