🚨 INSIDE QUIET EVOLUTION: Brock Purdy is making noticeable strides in one specific area of his game, and it’s happening so steadily that many fans may not realize how much it’s changing San Francisco’s offense. What’s improving behind the scenes could be the difference between a good quarterback and one the league starts to fear.

The San Francisco 49ers had a nice 37-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, improving to 10-4 with three weeks left in the season.

It was an amazing offensive day, as the 49ers scored on all but one of their possessions, which proved to be too much to overcome for the Titans.

Quarterback Brock Purdy was at the forefront of the action, throwing for 295 yards and three touchdowns while completing nearly 80 percent of his passes. There were a few missed throws, but it felt like another good game from the quarterback after a quality performance against the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago.

“I thought Brock had a really good game, made a number of plays,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday. “By no means was perfect. There were a couple that he missed out there. But, there were also a couple plays that he made when it didn’t seem like anything was there. So, I thought Brock had a really good game.”

Purdy has seen some big ups and downs this year. He’s stacked two quality games in a row now, but he’s also thrown multiple interceptions in 50 percent of his starts this season. The ugliest game recently was against the Carolina Panthers, where he had three first-half interceptions in a forgettable performance.

In that loss, it felt like Purdy was feeling the effects of his lingering toe injury, struggling to drive on the ball. But, over the last two weeks, it feels like that is starting to improve for Purdy.

“I think Brock had a hell of a game,” Shanahan said after the game. “I think he’s driven the ball in other games too. When someone says that because there were a couple picks versus Carolina where he left it hanging too much. So, there’s the time and place where you want to throw over people, and there’s the time and place where you need to drive the ball because there’s no one to throw over. He found that balance very well today.”

One factor that contributed to that was Purdy’s mindset of being aggressive with his opportunities.

“Yeah, I thought [I was driving the ball better],” Purdy said after the game. “I thought overall just being aggressive and just the way that I was seeing the defense and just letting it go. Leading guys and trying to hit them out of their breaks and things like that. So thought it was a pretty good day for that.”

Now, it’s been said that Purdy’s injury may likely linger for the rest of the season. And he already doesn’t have the best arm. So, when the mechanics are off, or the quarterback isn’t putting enough into throws, that has been evident, as seen in the Carolina game.

But, if Purdy can find more of that balance with being aggressive and more mechanically sound in the pocket, he has better control of the offense, and the 49ers can go on heaters like they did Sunday.
