There are plenty of trades that could see Duran head out of Boston. But the most important idea for the Red Sox is getting the most value possible out of the star.
FanSided’s Christopher Kline predicted the Red Sox would trade Duran to the Philadelphia Phillies in an offseason blockbuster.

“The Phillies need outfield bats in the worst of ways and Jarren Duran has long felt like one of the most logical — and attainable — targets,” Kline wrote. “The Red Sox are looking to ease their logjam in the outfield; Wilyer Abreu has a longer window of control and is a much better defender, which means Boston ought to prioritize dumping Duran. And it goes without saying that Roman Anthony and Ceddanne Rafaela aren’t moving.”
The Phillies on Monday agreed to a deal with Adolis Garcia, but they could still use another star outfielder.
Landing a deal to bring in Duran would make a lot of sense for their future. He would slot in as an everyday outfielder at the top of their lineup.
For the Red Sox, it’s hard to predict what they would target in return for Duran. Either way, if the Phillies can put together a good trade package, this idea would make a lot of sense.
