🚨 INSIDE TRADE RUMBLINGS: A two time All Star Yankees infielder coming off a 31 home run season is suddenly emerging as a serious trade target, and the timing is raising eyebrows across the league. What’s quietly developing behind the scenes suggests this may be less about talent and more about a calculated shift New York fans were not expecting this soon.

The New York Yankees are off to a fairly slow start this offseason, but there is still a lot of action that will happen on the market before the 2026 season starts. New York is still awaiting the decisions of Cody Bellinger, Luke Weaver, and Paul Goldschmidt. With it being the offseason across MLB, the hot stove rumor mill is always going to swirl.

New York hasn’t made any big-time trades to this point, but that doesn’t mean one isn’t coming over the next couple of months. A recent report suggests that the Yankees have received calls regarding two-time All-Star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Fielding Calls from MLB Teams About Trade Potential

It would be a shocking move if the Yankees decided to move on from Jazz Chisholm Jr. However, that doesn’t mean they are going to, but a report by MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch indicates that teams across the league have inquired about Jazz.

Considering the Yankees are already pretty thin on the infield, trading him doesn’t make much sense, unless it was for Ketel Marte or maybe Brandon Lowe.

The interest makes sense due to Chisholm’s big 2025 season. He was named an All-Star for the second time in his six-year MLB career, and hit 31 home runs and stole 31 bases. Defensively, Jazz split time between third and second base, but settled into the middle infield after New York acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon. Chisholm’s bWAR for 2025 totaled 4.2.

2025 showed Jazz putting everything together, and that’s certainly the reason for teams inquiring about a potential trade. He can hit for power, field his position, and take extra bases when on the basepaths.

Jazz Chisholm’s Market Value and Worth

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is also an attractive trade target because he’s under team control for the 2026 season. He is a third-year arbitration-eligible player, and he’s likely to be paid around the $5-10 million range for his contributions in 2026.

He has shown over pretty much every season of his career that he can be an above-average hitter with a lifetime 109 OPS+. The only concern with Jazz’s approach at the plate is that it comes with a lot of swing-and-miss.

BaseballReference.com projects that Chisholm Jr. will hit 25 home runs and steal 28 bases in 2026. Jazz was traded to the Yankees at the 2024 trade deadline from the Miami Marlins. Over 176 games with New York (2024-2025), Chisholm Jr. has 42 home runs and 103 RBIs.

It’s clear Jazz enjoys playing at Yankee Stadium, and he has expressed his contractual demands to some extent towards the Yankees organization, but neither side has been close to an agreement. New York will have to decide about Jazz after this season, and if they continue to show an unwillingness to meet him on a contract, trading him might not be the worst option, as he’d garner a strong return.
