🚨 INSIDE LOCKER ROOM MOMENT: Kendrick Bourne’s reaction after finishing just one yard short of a $500,000 bonus revealed far more than frustration, offering a rare glimpse into how thin the line truly is between celebration and heartbreak in the NFL. What he shared afterward struck a chord with teammates and fans alike, turning a stat line into an emotional reminder of how cruel and unforgiving this league can be.

T

he San Francisco 49ers are victorious once again. Defeating the Tennessee Titans 37-24 to improve to 10-4 on the season, the 49ers are in the midst of a four game winning streak and are in prime position to make the playoffs after one season off. Despite dealing with a rash of injuries this season, the 49ers have continued to find ways to win.

One reason the 49ers have been so successful in 2025 is because they have seen several players step up in times of need. One of those players, Kendrick Bourne, was brought in early this season to help a depleted wide receiver room. And in his contract, the 49ers added a $500,000 incentive in case he reaches 500 receiving yards on the season. With three weeks left, Bourne is already close to reaching the goal but is one yard short. After the 49ers’ win over the Titans, Bourne has a hilarious reaction to being one yard short of his $500,000 bonus.

Bourne Reacts on Twitter/X

Bourne was cut by the New England Patriots during final roster cuts on Aug. 27 and after entering free agency, he quickly signed a one-year deal to rejoin the 49ers on Sept. 9. Since he came back to the team, Bourne has become a key piece to the offense, putting together two consecutive 100-yard games in week four and five. But since the 49ers have gotten healthier, Bourne has been less of a factor but caught two passes for 17 yards against the Titans on Sunday. Now, Bourne has 499 receiving yards and while he has three games left to record one yard, he took to X after the game to voice his reaction to being only one yard short.

“Nawwwww bro I need 1 more yard hahaha nooooo,” Bourne said via his X/Twitter account.

Bourne has 499 yards on 33 catches, but most of those catches came while Brock Purdy was injured and Mac Jones was the starter. Playing with Jones in New England, Bourne and Jones were able to form chemistry before they came to the 49ers, making things easier for them when they took the field together this season. Since Purdy came back, and guys like Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings got healthy, Bourne has taken a backseat on offense.

Bourne’s Career Thus Far

An undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington, Bourne signed with the 49ers as a rookie in 2017 and played for the team through the 2020 season before signing a three-year deal with the  Patriots ahead of the 2021 season. A rotational player during his first stint with the 49ers, Bourne became a starter for the Patriots and put together his best season as a pro in 2021 when he caught 55 passes for 800 yards and five touchdowns. In that season, the Patriots finished 10-7 and made their most recent appearance in the NFL playoffs.
