The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to be linked to big names this offseason, like Chicago Cubs free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker and Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal. While those players are realistic targets for the team, they are also making some smaller moves.

The Dodgers announced that they have claimed outfielder Mike Siani off waivers from the Atlanta Braves.

The Dodgers have claimed OF Mike Siani off waivers from Atlanta.

Siani spent the last three seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals before recently joining up with the Braves. The 26-year-old outfielder is known more as a defense-first player, as he has only batted .221 over his MLB career. He’s not going to make very many plays at the plate, but he could be a solid glove for the Dodgers to use when they need some defensive help.

The addition of Siani shouldn’t change much of the team’s thinking this offseason. He gives them some depth if they can’t retain Kiké Hernandez or trade Teoscar Hernandez, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll be a big part of their plans in 2026.

Dodgers Interested in Re-Signing Kiké Hernandez

Kiké Hernandez has been a key player for the Dodgers across multiple tenures, and his performances in the playoffs are legendary. He’s not a great regular season performer, but the way he elevates in the playoffs makes him a valuable piece.

He’s a free agent right now, but according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez, the Dodgers are considering bringing him back.

“The Dodgers are interested in bringing Enrique Hernandez back, sources said, and would prefer to trade from their surplus of outfield prospects to augment their lineup, with bat-to-ball specialists like Cleveland Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan and St. Louis Cardinals utility man Brendan Donovan seen as ideal fits,” Gonzalez wrote. “In other words, they can very easily just go the straightforward route.”

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman was asked about Hernandez, and he admitted that while they’re not making a move now, they’re certainly open to re-signing him.

“We’ll never shut the door on Kiké. The value he provides on the field with his versatility, the value he provides in the clubhouse. He’s got to do what’s best, but we’ll see how that plays out,” Friedman told Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation.

Teoscar Hernandez on Trade Block

As the Dodgers consider bringing back one Hernandez, they’re also considering moving on from one. Teoscar Hernandez struggled in the postseason in 2025, so Los Angeles might want to move on from his salary.

According to Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Dodgers are at least considering trading the All-Star.

“The Dodgers continue to ‘kick the tires’ on trading Teoscar Hernández, a league source said, though general manager Brandon Gomes said Monday that trading the right fielder ‘doesn’t feel likely.’ Still, the Dodgers might feel inclined to deal Hernández, whose defense declined last year, to free up roster space,” Woo and Ardaya wrote. “The Kansas City Royals have coveted an offense-first outfielder, and have interest in Hernández, a league source said.”

The Dodgers already have a need in the outfield, so it’s hard to imagine they’d trade Hernandez without something else lined up.
