Old Photo Of Bo Bichette Emerges Amid Red Sox’s Reported Free Agency Pursuit

Boston continues to be linked to Bichette in free agency

The Boston Red Sox have already made a couple of notable moves this offseason, but it seems like they are only just getting started. The Sox have been linked to pretty much every big name available in free agency, including Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette.

On the surface, the Red Sox appear to be set at shortstop, as they have Trevor Story manning the position. However, Boston has a big hole at second base, which could be filled by signing Bichette to play shortstop and moving Story to second base.

While the Sox have been more heavily linked to guys like Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber, the rumors surrounding Boston and Bichette appear to be picking up steam. And as that continues, an old photo of Bichette wearing a Red Sox shirt resurfaced on social media recently.

While Bichette has spent his entire career with the Blue Jays, he does have ties to the Red Sox. Bichette’s father, Dante Bichette, wrapped up his career by spending time with Boston in 2000 and 2001, and his parents actually met at a gym right next to Fenway Park.

The younger Bichette is a two-time All-Star who put together a strong bounce-back season in 2025 to help power Toronto to the World Series. In 139 games, Bichette hit .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs, which should help him earn a nice contract in free agency.

It seems like Boston would prefer to sign one of the aforementioned trio of free agents, but Bichette also could be an option if the front office misses out elsewhere. With these rumors beginning to pick up steam, Bichette is another target that Red Sox fans will have to keep tabs on.
