Based on comments made after, and allegedly during, the game between the two teams, there is clearly no love lost between th Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers. The vitriol runs so deep, it seems, that players from each team were taking personal shots at each other.
After losing to the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 26-8, future Hall of Fame defensive end Myles Garrett not only took a shot at Niners’ wide receiver Jauan Jennings, but his parents, as well, as he called into question “how he was raised.”
In the game, Jennings had four catches for 39 yards and a touchdown, while Garrett had another sack, bringing his season total to 19.
Browns defensive end Myles Garrett takes shot at Jauan Jennings’ parents after Niners wide receiver allegedly made disparaging comments during game
“I can’t speak for how he was raised, but if you have nothing good to say, don’t say something to somebody,” Garrett said. “He had a lot to say that was demeaning and disparaging toward some of our players. … Some guys roll like that. I don’t feel like that belongs in the game.”
According to Browns defensive tackle Shelby Harris, Jennings — whom the 49ers drafted out of the University of Tennessee in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft — had made disparaging comments about the wives and families of Browns’ players.
“(Jennings) says some things you should not say to another man, ever. But I don’t respect it because you say that, then run behind your (offensive) line. That’s some real soft s—,” Harris said. “You don’t talk about people’s wives and families.”
With the win, the 49ers improved to 9-4 to keep pace with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in a competitive NFC West, while the loss dropped the Cleveland Browns to 3-9, putting them in last place in the AFC North.
